Just random shots from the Tour. We have been making some pretty long flights lately, the scenery is spectacular. We were supposed to move to Denver this morning but the weather at Jefco and the surrounding area is pretty. Waiting it out til morning.

Jim, very beautiful pics man. Thank you for posting. Do you know if the pod on the Corsair affect it at all from a regular corsair? It looks great.

If you are talking about the radar pod on the Collings Foundation F4U-5NL (not the one in the pictures from Jim) the radar pod causes about a 10 knot decrease in cruise speed. It is hard to know the exact performance penalty because that particular aircraft has never flown without the radar pod. The only thing you can do is compare it to other -5s without the pod. Since each aircraft is different (just ask people who fly multiple P-51's) it is something that the pilot just gets used to. The rudder trim is more than sufficient to make up for any yaw caused by the pod, so there is no "feel in the stick" difference. We also have the drop tank mounted on the other side of the aircraft, so that helps offset any yaw from the pod as well (but comes with a decrease in speed of another 10-15 knots).
