I have an update to the Soplata list. It doesn't look like Scott has had a chance update the downloads page with it yet. In case you didn't know about the downloads page you can find it here...

If any one is interested in the history of the Soplata collection and can help clarify when airframes arrived at Mr. Soplata's farm (or first spotted dates) and when they left (last spotted dates good as well) I can email you the most recent edition.

On a similar note Steve Tournay has completed an impressive diorama of some of the Soplata collection. It is an impressive work, attesting to Steve artistic eye and skill, or his insanity. I still don't know which!

Looks like you have taken some extra effort in working on these lists. BRAVO Sir, Thank You. May I ask, since you seem to have compiled a list of Aircraft from the movie Tora, Tora, Tora, has anyone, or perhaps yourself, compiled a list from another Warbird movie, one that some of whose stars grace the ramps of many Warbird shows...Catch-22 ?? I am fairly sure that the MAAM's B-25 Mitchell, Breifing Time is a veteran of the silver screen ? Do you or anyone else know of others ??

let's get something straight boys..... there is no farm!!!! no moo cows, sheep, goats, crops, silos ( grain or missile variety!!?) tractors, farmers in the dell etc. that's alot of manure!!! alot of old birds, not chickens out of respect to their history, but old historically significant stuff. regards, tom

By request I've removed the link to the photos of my diorama on the modeling thread. For the moment the thread itself is still present unless/until Scott opts to remove it. I can delete my posts, but not someone else's...

And Tom is right about the property often being called a "farm"...it most certainly ain't!

To be honest Tom, I was looking for the right word so that I could be respectful. I thought if I used the word "estate" it may be assumed I was using a sarcastic tone. I often find a need to refer to Mr. Soplata's grounds. I would appreciate it if you could suggest a term I should use.

If I understand correctly from your previous posts you have visited Mr. Soplata a few times. I would appreciate any contributions you could make to the list. I would especially be interested in dates related to when airframes arrived and departed. I would especially be interested in any information about airframes that are not on the list. The addition of you knowlege to the list would be appreciated.

My intent with the list is to create a collaborative forum to that we all can learn about the history of the airframes in Mr. Soplata's collection. I don't think I have violated Mr. Soplata's privacy as the majority of the info has come from published sources and visitors. I would think this list just may aid in Mr. Soplata's privacy as it would satisfy a person's curiosity rather than encouraging someone to visit because they can get the info no other way.

mike, i stand corrected on the farm word, thanks to rob.... excuse me while i scrape the manure off my shoe. listing his aircraft's histories / arrival dates is tall order for anybody, i admire your enthusiasm & energy. i couldn't even begin to speculate on those details!! best, tom

Ya know, when Mr Soplata gave me the walking tour of his farm a couple years ago, he quoted all kinds of statistics about his airplanes...where and when he got 'em, how much he paid, how he got them to the farm, all kinds of stuff. If he lets you run a tape recorder when you guys talk, Rob, you'll have a TON of that information.
