Hi All --

First time poster to WIX; many thanks to my good buddy Dean K5DH for suggesting I ask my question here.

I shot these two photos at the Denton Texas Airshow in 1984. Does anybody have any information on this A-20?

Thanks

Looks like the CAF aircraft, lost in a fatal crash a few years later. Info here: http://www.warbirdregistry.org/a20registry/a20-4322210.html

Welcome to WIX, and thanks for the pics! The Havoc/Boston is one of my favorites..I'd love to see one fly someday.

Never been many flying (was there ever more than one flying regularly after the 60s?) and the loss of the CAF example was one of the few tragic losses where the pilot was hit with a heart attack. Given the maturity (in age, not attitude of course) of so many of out selfless pilots, that's rarer than one might think.

Seconded. Much talk, some restoration, too little flying, sadly. And a rare type overall.

Cheers,

Yes. welcome to the WIX group!!! Like many others the A-20 is one of my favorites as well and unfortunatly too few survived the war. Reason being is that about 75% of the production were allocated to our Lend-Lease allies and of course were never seen again. I've attached a photo of one my A-20 prize items...an ID plate for a Boston Mk IIIA that went to the RAF and served with 107 squadron, 88 sqdn, 2 Gp Recon and finally 342 sqdn (Free French).

It's definitely the CAF airplane. Here are a couple of photos I took on the apron and airborne at Harlingen at Airsho '84:
