Here's an interesting picture the San Diego Tribune printed in the paper today. That is the carrier Langley anchored at North Island Naval Station. That's the same location that today's carriers use. Many of the buildings in that picture are still there and still in use at the base today. Pt. Loma is in the background.

The story in the paper was an announcement of the upcoming 100th anniversary of U.S. Navy aviation. They are going to hold a flyover of 150 planes on February 12, 2011.
