B-26 Marauder Folks:

Good Day!!

Seek info/data or pics of the B-26 Marauder pictured below. The place of the photo in ukn and the date is poss c. 1950s. Aircraft nickname is written below the pilot's window as "Bonnie". Reg NL1500M, also known as NC66595. Poss AAF S/N 42-107640. Photo via D. Felton/Wix. c.2007

If anyone out there remembers seeing this aircraft at Houston or at the old Miami area c. 1950s, plz let us know. It was Reg at one time to Mr. Robert Uricho of the Miami, area.

Here's what J Baughers site says-

42107640 to U.S. Navy as JM-1 buno75187. Sold in 1947 and again in 1949, became N66595. Sold to owner in Honduras as XH-100. Bought by Continental Can Co. in 1952 and became N 1502. Crashed near Marion, OH. 7/1/1959 all 10 aboard killed in crash.

As a sidebar, a very long time friend of mine worked on both CCC B-26's converting them to corporate configuration. He's 94 and still tougher than 7-11 beef jerky.

Good Day!!

Tks for the info & data. Two B-26 Marauders were at the Air Reserch facility, (LA Area) for conversions to civilian VIP transport c. 1950s. N1502 was certainly one of them.

Does any one remember any of these Marauder samples being in the S. Calif area?? Mr. I, will you plz ask your vet mechanic & friend to look in his attic for possible pictures of these aircraft prior to their restoration?

I'll ask, but it took him quite some time to find and copy and send to me reprints he took when he worked @ SIS-Q in the mid 50's and did the conversion to firebombers on the F-7-F's, one of which is restored and @ Historic Flight @ KPAE as 783 'Bad Kitty' along with his narrative on doing the work and some background stuff on the various tanker services in the Grass Valley area then, the deal was the stories and photos were strictly for HFF files and backstory on "BK".
While @ AIRESEARCH he also worked on doing ALLISON 580 nacelles and engine installations and DC-3 executive interior mods. He did tell me years ago that both B-26's had a really heavy but very cool wrap around sort of free form horseshoe couch that wrapped around the entire aft end of the main cabin and way more radio gear than it could have ever needed.
