Warbird Information Exchange

Here's another warbird mystery machine dug out from my photo vault.
This is a P-47D Thunderbolt that formally served with the 69th Fighter Squadron 58th Fighter Group 5tyh Air Force in New Guinea. It was returned to CONUS and used in war bond drives. The photo was taken in 1945 in Portland, OR. So who's barn is it in now????

the question should be more than likely who's kitchen was it in 55 years ago???? after it was smelted & turned into a refrigerator. oh the crappy post war odds for classic warbirds being saved was thoroughly lopsided against history . regards, tom

LOL, thats funny.........I remember as a kid, not that long ago either that my granmother had some pots that she bought in the late 40's. I remember telling my cousin that those pots probably had 30 missions over germany! There was one that we called the B-17.......it was the one that she made her soup in..........and then there was the big B-29. That was for the mashed potatoes.

I used to say pretty much the same thing about one of the pots my Grandmother had, also for the mashed 'taters... she thought it was pretty funny... and she was German... LOL

after all those mashed taters in the bomber pots the bombs usually fell the next day!!!
