Just received this notice:

PAUL ALLEN’S FLYING HERITAGE COLLECTION TO DEBUT RUSSIAN IL-2

Come see the only flying example of Russia’s Ilyushin Il-2M3 Shturmovik(IL-2) in the world! It will take to the skies in its public debut Saturday, September 15th, starting at noon as part of the continuation of FHC’s Free Summer Fly Days series.

The IL-2 type aircraft is the single most produced military aircraft design in all of aviation history. It operated close to the ground, attacking enemy tanks, trucks, and troops near the front line. The job was dangerous and though the IL-2 was heavily armored, many of the planes were lost in battle.

Should be a great morning of warbird flying at Paine Field, Everett, WA tomorrow!

The P-47 Thunderbolt is scheduled to fly with it, it's going to be ground attack day.

No, that's in two weeks (9/29). Tomorrow is a 'special'.

I had to work today (well, really I didn't, but I swapped days so I could have the 29th off when the IL-2 flies again but this time with the FHC B-25, HFF's Tigercat and I think maybe HFM's Skyraider). I figured if I could only make one that would be the one to go to.

My friend Jason who posts on here occasionally continues his ongoing video series of what's flying in the Northwest. Check out his video from today.

Too bad some of the guys from Olympia can't fly up in the HUEYS/COBRA for a real 'ground pounder' display
