A few years ago someone posted about free S-2 Trackers that were for sale in Canada. Does anyone know more about this?

Thx,
Nate

Nate--

You probably mean the group of unconverted ex-USN S-2s Conair still had on hand at the end of the Firecat/Turbo Firecat program; worth note, they were not Canadian S-2s (i.e. DHC-built CS2Fs), but regular Grummans. If memory serves they were mostly scrapped off. One was cosmetically restored by Conair to resemble a piston Firecat, and that one went to the Ontario Bushplane Heritage Centre in Sault Ste-Marie, Ontario.

Also perhaps of interest, CWH's CS2F-2 continues to progress toward flight at Hamilton, having been on static display at the museum for a number of years. It's one of the DHC/RCN batch; it was one of the last four CS2Fs still at CFB Borden as instructional airframes into the late 80s, the quartet being recovered, initially to Brantford, by ex-CWH chief Phil Nelson around 1994 or so. The other three are with other museums and any might be worth a look, as they were really in pretty decent shape when recovered from Borden.

Looking to add a Stoof to the show circuit, are we...?

S.

Thanks Steve for the info! Too bad the place is all the way across the country for me!

And yes, it would be nice to have another on the airshow circuit. :D
