What? A Mustang with a confusing history? I know its rare. :)

A discrepency has been brought to my attention regarding this aircraft. Apparently P-51 Mustang 44-13571 was assigned to the 355FG in July 1944 and went down in North Sea as WR-X Jolly Roger, with Lt. Oran Stacup of 354FS. As you can imagine this would make it difficult for it to be rebuilt by Cavalier. I'm hoping someone can clear this up.

Martin and Randy, get ready, set go!

just this

no connection to the real a/c whatsoever.,

The Cavaliers that received new FY '68 - 71' serial numbers were built up from components in TFA/Cavalier's large spare holdings and any relation to former USAAF FY '44 or '45 serials was lost during this process, respectively when various airframes owned by TFA/Cavalier were 'reduced to spares' at their premises during the 60's.

Oh, Randy will be "going" all right! I've had the privilege of flipping through early drafts of his upcoming book detailing the complete Cavalier and Enforcer histories - due for publication in 2006 IIRC - and we're all in for a real treat. Lots of primary sources and very rare pics.

. . . might even be inspiration for a painting subject or two in there!
