I don't know the proper nomenclature--shell, round, projectile, whatever--but what I'm looking for is the weight of the entire unit that a gunner had to load, manually, into the breech of the Pappy Gunn 75mm cannon mounted in a number of B-25s. Not the weight of the projectile that hit a target, the weight that the gunner had to lift to load the gun in the first place. Anybody know?

I suspect that the most common round used in a B-25 would be the M48 Round (HE) which weighed either 18.8, or 19.56 lbs depending on if it was a "Normal" or "Supercharge" round.

Bill Norton in his excellent engineering-centric book American Bomber Aircraft Development gives a rounded off figure if 20 pounds. He says the rounds were 26" long.

I also recommend his similar books on fighters and "Special Types" (floatplanes, transports, recon, drones and helicopters) and I'm looking forward to his new book on research, experiment and modified types.
