Was there on Thursday. Counted 8 Mustangs. 2 Corsairs as reported
and shown by Chuck's pics. I was hoping to see the F-22 arrive.
That did not happen but was surprised by an F-14 that did.
2 F-15's while I was in the parking lot.
Lots to see and a long day.

Some pics below and more HERE

As usual, outstanding pictures Bill. Thanks for sharing.

By the way, the best shot ever of a TBM in flight (your "header" picture) - spectacular.

Very nice pics Bill.

Whose is the P-40N in pseudo-AVG markings?

Is that Sea Fury the one that was flown as unpainted for the last few years... I suspected b/c of the Canadian registry on it?

Who owns the former Gary Kohs FG-1D now? I saw it there in your website photos. Still looks magnificent!

Cheers,
Richard

Ex-N1324 as noted here:
http://www.warbirdregistry.org/furyregistry/fury-n58sf.html
However the last photo in the registry is wrong. That is Kermit Weeks Tempest II, LA607! See here:

I also noted on Bill's website a photo of Kermit Weeks Tempest II LA607, is this a flyer, or just a static display? If static, does that mean it spends time in Lakeland, or is it trucked back and forth for Sun-n-Fun?

Yes the Sea Fury is the one that had been flying around for a few years unpainted. Ex reg. NX1324.

I believe the bird is flown out of hamilton from the hanger of the CWH. I believe the owner did not put military markings on the bird as the paint scheme is too loosley based on Canadian Navy colour scheme. Have to admit it looks better that in did but I am left wondering why not go all out on the paint scheme unless it was simply cost.

Having said that, the owner sure loves to fly his bird as it shows up at many airshows near and far.

Again I have been told ( can't confirm) the owner owns property in Florida and uses the Sea Fury to fly back and forth.

I think I saw a Tempest II for sale in the latest Trade-A-Plane. Which one?

Tj,

Kermit keeps the Tempest along with a few other aircraft at the Sun-n-Fun musuem.

RER

That explains it. I seem to remember seeing photos from Sun-n-Fun a couple of years ago, and the Tempest was there then as well! But is it flyable? I don't think I've ever seem any photos of it in the air?

Tempest II LA607 is actually one of the prototypes for the Tempest II.... why the RAF Museum parted with it is beyond me. It is owned by Kermit Weeks, and no, it isn't a flyer. There are no Tempest II's flying at the moment, although there are a couple being restored to fly, with one of them in very advanced stages... can't wait!

Cheers,
Richard
