Hoping someone can help me with a listing of airframes or owners that would have been based in eastern Nebraska or western Iowa in the early 1980s--that is NOT Gunfighter (N5428V).

We have a Rolls Merlin that was take out of a privately-owned P-51 around circa 1983 (but can go plus or minus a couple years). The owner found a new engine and swapped it our for the one we now have, taking the nose-case with the new engine. This one sat in a box for the last 27 years or so, before we took possession of it. The people we got it from do not recall where it came from, but are familiar with "Gunfighter" (which was my guess, since it was based out of Omaha) and it is definitely not out of that one. I can find the serial number on the engine if that would help, but we're more trying to figure out what Mustang it came out of.

Any rivet counters in a 1980's mind-frame?
