So there I was, wondering where the Liberty Belle was hiding during May....... and now I see that the tour schedule has been updated to show ~ she's been in a paint shop !

http://www.libertyfoundation.org/schedule.php

She is due to make her first appearence this coming weekend at Stinson Municipal Airport.

Will anyone be there this weekend ~ with a camera ????

Is it a touch up or full paint? I can't believe it would need full paint already.......

They are probably repainting it to give it a more realistic silver than the whitish scheme it is in now. Remember Aluminum Overcast back in the mid-1990's.

IIRC I read somewhere that the repaint would be in the same scheme. They said the first paintjob was just a quickie to get it ready for last season.

I will see her at Hook's Airport in Tomball, Tx in two weeks. Its basically in my back yard. It will be good to see Don and the new paint job, since seeing them at Thunder '05. I will be sure to try and take some pics! :drink3:

It's a full paint job. There were some problems getting the previous paint to adhere to the old primer, some of which had been on the plane for 10 years before the final paint went on. So, it was stripped and repainted in the same scheme.

Great pictures... Does it seem like the nose glass isn't the correct shape?

Well, I went down to Stinson Field yesterday. I didn't get to go in style as I'd hoped as the J-3 Cub's brakes were out according to the guy who flew it last. Anyway, I arrived at Stinson and looked in vain for a B-17. I asked around and there was some vague impression that the B-17 might have had engine trouble or something or other and the plane didn't make it to Stinson yesterday. I was at our church's meeting today, so I don't know if they made it in today. There was also some talk about there having been a bunch of folks in earlier who had paid for rides who were wondering if they were going to get them...

Its a beautiful hot sunny day at Hooks today. While eating lunch at the FBO, I could see Liberty Belle off in the distance. She came over and made one pass and then came in. The new paint looks great!! I know these two pics arent the best, they were taken from my cell phone camera. But I will be going back out in the morning..when i have more time. I will take the camera this time.
