The A-20 hit the mast of the freighter and crashed about 300 yards off of the ship which also went down. He gunner
was lost but the pilot was rescued. This was in March 1944. The infantry also said the flyboys had a clean war but this photo disputes that.

Every time Im at the museum people just stop and look at the A-20 briefly and then keep going. Almost like they arent very interested in it. I try to help educate some people when they ask me questions about it when im around it... Some of the first American pilots to bomb the Germans in occupied Europe flew RAF Bostons (Havocs) on a bombing run against a German airfield. There is a painting of the raid, with one of the Bostons wing tips hitting the ground and a prop that came off.
