They have shirts, I'm wearing one of em now I bought at Reno last week. Agreed, they should sell them on the site.

Hi Guys,

Doc is lookin better and better these days. But I do have a question. There is an upper fuselage skin panel, just aft of the cockpit windows that appears "out of place". What I mean to say is that with all of the hard work and new metal that they have put into Doc to get her to where she is today, why would they not have changed out that section of fuselage skin along the way ? It looks rather weather beaten from age and perhaps very light corrosion, and it just looks out of place on an aircraft that has seen what amounts to be a Zero Time Overhaul.

Just curious,

Paul

Looks to me (from the pic's) that they just haven't gotten around to polishing it yet. Any thoughts?

I think that area is unfinshed because they still have to install the top turret. The bottom (as well as the other two) has not been installed as seen from my photo below.

Do they even have a set of turrets for this project? It would seem they would be tough to get...

Pictures of DOC out in China Lake show what appear to be areas of white paint on the top of the fuselage. The area behind the flight deck looks like one of those "painted" areas. I could be wrong. Are there any DOC insiders on this board that can answer some of these questions?
