I really like the looks of that B, I think it is. It's got more "right stuff" to me that the modern looks of the Ds. Any story on the Major and those 9 victories?Any 51 with a Spitfire engine and canopy is pretty cool. It would be nice to have all that Mustang fuel too!
Bill,
Major Robert W. Stephens was the CO of the 355th FS "Pugnacious Pups" of the 354th FG and later assigned to 354th FG HQ. He total scored was 13 kills (12 + 2 1/2 credits) all in the P-51. He was a Col when he has a heart attack and died in his early 40s. He was the biggest pilot in the 354th at around 6' and 230#. His nick name of "Killer" was second only to "Gory Gus" Allen's of the same squadron.
