P-51D 44-73420

Jeff Harris of Allied Fighters sent me these photos to share with you. The ground shots were taken at the time of the first flight. The air-to-air shots were just taken the other day by Larry Rector with Jeff flying the Stang. The photo ship was a AT-6 flown by Stevo Hinton.
Jeff's dad flew in the 356th Fs so markings of that squadron are a clear possibility. Frank O'Connor's AJ+O s/n 44-14016 "Verna Q"/"Lois From St. Louis" is the front runner.

Is that the B-50 "Lucky Lady II" in the background? It almost looks like it is standing on it's own now...am I seeing things? Is there finally some activity on that bird?

HArd to tell, but the wing is actually painted silver.

Yes, B-50 in the background, but the display is similar to the way it was before. It is held up on a trestle. The center section spar was cut for a walk-through by the USAF many years ago. POF has the remains of a KC-97 to make it look like an airplane again someday, but it will likely never be more than a static display.
