This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

For a idea dunno if it would work?
For the sole AC-47 gunship warbird would a few spare Miniguns and mounts be able to put in her and the guns be fitted for paintball type bullets and fitted with tracer and at airshow in eving dusk a AC scrambles and then she fires off say a full row of the minis and this would maybe show tracers flying down.
Could this work or is not allowed in US due to miniguns?

Paintballs are shot using air pressure. They cannot withstand being fired using a rifle cartridge.
Tracers are essentially regular bullets with a small cavity in the back filled with a chemical compound. They are as lethal as a regular bullet.
I don't think it would be a good idea to fire any type of live gun from an aircraft at an airshow. What if your aim was off? Just try to get liability insurance!
A single Minigun costs the same or more than an airworthy C-47. There are a few in civilian hands. Probably not cost effective.

We had a propane gun set from a T-6 and tried to mount it the night shows. but after alot of work we decided it was to risky with the propane, 02, and the flames. not to mention trying to get approval from the FAA. I still like the idea though, we had also tried to figure out a high rate of speed in some lights but never got past the idea stage.
