PIMA restoration projects

Wed Dec 27, 2006 9:04 am

I noticed that Pima is working on restoring an A-20, B-26, and a Storch that look like they might have been ex Tallichet stuff. Can anyone confirm? The B-26 might be the other B-26 that we had at Air Heritage, along with the Storch. This A-20 used to be in a junkyard in California if it is the one I am thinking of.

They did tell me that the B-26 is Tallichet's, but I can't remember about the others.

Yeah that B-26 or should I say B-26's(as it was a bunch of parts from several aircraft) was used in the movie A Guy named Joe. When we had it the Japanese meatballs were still visible on the fuselage on on side.

Tallichet planes at Pima

Here is a list of the Tallichet planes we have here at Pima for restoration and display as of now.

Bell P-39Q
Brewster Bermuda
Bristol Blenheim Mk. IV
Consolidated PBY-5A
Curtiss P-40N
Curtiss O-52A
Douglas A-20G
Douglas SBD-5
Eastern Aircraft FM-2
Hawker Hurricane
Martin B-26
Moraine-Saulnier MS 500 (Storch)
Shenyang J-6A (MiG-19)

The MiG, Storch, Hurricane and FM-2 are on display. The Blenheim ought to be done in the next few months with the O-52 right behind it. The SBD should be the next one started.

Are these planes now owned by Pima, or are they still owned by Tallichet and on lease to Pima?

They are owned by Tallichet. We have them on long term loan.
