Does anyone have, or know where I can get a high resolution air2air photo of the all red P-38 'Yippee'??
Have tried the NMUSAF and they don't have one.

Michael was author of Osprey book "PRODUCTION LINE TO FRONTLINE- LOCKHEED P-38 LIGHTNING" (There was pics of Yippie in it)

Hello Dave. Have you tried Sentry Magazine.... (Airpower/Wings?) In the mid 70's, then editor Warren Bodie was publishing his Skybolt series on the P-38. If I remember correctly, there were several beautiful, full color plates including the "YIPPEE" P-38. I do not know if these were Kodachrome slides that the magazine had purchased, or if they were from Warrens personal collection. Alan

Its fairly low res on their website but surely they have it availiable in a high res on file somewhere or at least have the original that can be rescanned.

In the late 80s Flying magazine published a series of posters, one of which was of "Yippee" banking away from the camera plane.

The posters were huge, and if I remember correctly (I have the Yippee one somewhere) were of fairly good resolution. So, someone still has the original chrome/negative.

Hairy, NMUSAF didn't have it in colour, and I wonder where the originals came from on the 'Cloud Nine ' Photography site.

Hi Dave, in Jeffery Ethell's Warbirds of World War II he has the same pictures as Cloud 9 and they are credited to Eric Miller/Lockheed Aircraft Corporation (page 33) and Lockheed Aircraft Corporation (page 34), hope this helps a little more.

Subsequently assigned to the 431st Fighter Squadron of the 475th Fighter Group, with which unit it served until written off at the end of 1944.
