NAS Norfolk Airshow pictures

Tue Jan 30, 2007 10:54 pm

"And Now For Something Completely Different....."

Was going through pictures and thought I would post some. Not the greatest shots mind you but still nice to look at.

These were taken at NAS Norfolk, Va from 2000 and 2001 seasons. 2001 being the the last year a air show would be held at Chambers Field since NAS Norfolk had been Disestablished.

Thanks.

This the same airfield where a year and a half ago a C-2 was filmed executing an emergency belly landing.

I'm probably on one of those boats out in Willoughby Bay in that pic... I think we had a regatta on Sat. and I went to the airshow with a friend on Sunday. It's still a damned shame they stopped the Azalea Festival airshow... I always enjoyed watching the airborne activity from the boat, and the field is just down Hampton Blvd from me.

I've got a buncha pics from this show as well, I'll have to dig'em out. Thanks for posting them!

I miss Hampton Roads a lot. I even got a little misty eyed this past christmas when I visited.

I lived on Old Ocean View Rd. and got to see aircraft on a daily basis and airshows from my backyard and roof. It was nice I could get in 3 airshows a year before they shut down Norfolk.

One of my best memories was, I was leaving work at NAB Littlcreek and driving down Shore Dr. towards Littlecreek road and just as I was crossing over the railroad tracks "The Fighter Factory's" Spitfire fills up my windshield as it pass by on final to Norfolk International. Very cool. (for those who don't know, Shore Dr. crosses in front of the end of NOR's north? end runway)

Ahhh those were the days.
