Pacific Aviation Museum B-25?

Fri Feb 02, 2007 4:32 pm

Which B-25 is on display with the Pacific Aviation Museum? Am I correct in understanding it is not 44-31504?

Thanks,

Jim

It is indeed 44-31504. Prior to being at the museum it was on display at Hickam AFB, Hawaii.

Things have changed:

"Carl Scholl passed along some photos of the B-25 Aero Trader put together for the Pacific Air Museum. That museum, which opened its doors in December, displays what appears to be Doolittle Raider B-25B s/n 40-2261. Typically, Aero Trader did an incredible job on the airframe, which is actually a composite of three B-25Js: s/n 44-30077 (cockpit and tail), 44-30627 (wings), and the center section from the static B-25 used in the crash scene in Forever Young which I think is s/n 44-30090 (not sure about that). Some photos posted there also of the new airplane.

402261 was not Doolittle's Aircraft. 261 was aircraft Number 7. Piloted by Ted Lawson and known as the Ruptured Duck. They have not got the nose art on yet. They have been in touch with Ellen Lawson on what the nose art should look like.

Interesting. I guess I had "old" news. What happened to 44-31504?

I wasn't implying it was marked as Doolittle's aircraft, only that it was marked as a Doolittle Raider B-25.

As for the old airplane, it went to Aero Trader as part of the deal and should by now be in desert storage at their site.
