MACR Serial number 42-51705 Question

Fri Feb 02, 2007 10:10 pm

Hello--My name is Steven Airheart and I am doing research for a book about former NFL quarterback Randy Johnson whose father was KIA near Cerignola, Italy on March 15, 1945. His father, S/Sgt Joseph R. Johnson Serial number 18105466 was a member of a B-24 crew which reportedly was blown up when a bomb which failed to drop over its target, exploded on landing. I don't know the serial number of this aircraft, but I suspect it was 42-51705. I have scoured several lists of B-24's by serial number, but have found nothing on this particular aircraft. Can you help? I am looking for any information on the crash, the mission the crew was returning from, crew information, and history of this particular aircraft. If you can help please e-mail me at airheartss@aol.com. Thank you. Steve, Live Oak, Tx
