Went flying today

Tue Feb 06, 2007 1:49 pm

It was actually pretty cool. (No pun intended, it's currently 15 degrees here.)
Pre-flight wasn't a lot of fun out in that temperature in a 15mph breeze.
I got to taxi out to the runway and do the take off. (Kinda' scary but I put on my "big boy" Jockeys and worked through it ) Instructor said I did good on the take-off. Was really bumpy and kinda "OH CRAP " every now and then but all together he said I did good the whole flight. Don't know whether he was blowin' smoke up my kilts or not. I thought I did pretty well. He didn't ask me do the landing. (Thankfully)

Sure is gonna' be a lot of stuff to learn. I'm choosing the Cessna pilot kit to work at home instead of the ground school classroom. That way I can put as much time into it as I'm able to assimilate in one sitting and repeat anything I'm not clear on.

Gonna' set up my lessons for 3 days a week once I get my new (high capacity) credit card.

Mudge the fledgling :drink3:

ps..I DID NOT wrestle the controls nor strangle the wheel. My hands were nice and relaxed. (Unlike the rest of my body. )

Good for you, Mudge! It's a great time, isn't it????

Tue Feb 06, 2007 2:09 pm

Like I said, every now and then an "OH CRAP" when a wind gust put me in an attitude I wasn't expecting. But yes...I think I can do this.

Good for you! How fun! :D

I am glad that you enjoyed your time and had a good feeling about how you did. I am sure you did very well for your (first?) time out. I could barely keep the thing on the runway during taxi my first time!

I wish you many many more wonderful flights! Keep us updated on your progress!

Great encouragement Mudge!! And good for you!...I'd like to do the same thing soon. Keep your spirits up and keep flying.

Ah, Mudge, wear long pants and the coolness won't be so bad during pre-flight.

Good luck Mudge! Sounds like you had a great time. :D

Mudge,

Like Leonardo da Vinci said,

"When once you have tasted flight, you will always walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward; for there you have been and there you will always be."

It's in your blood now, Mudge.

Congratulations on taking that first step.

Go for it Mudge-meister!!! :D
Cessnas are good to learn on. Then go for the tailwheel endorsement and pretty soon you'll be flying BoB heritage flights! :spit

The C172 I started on still has my hand prints on the yoke from where i left the Deathgrip on 'em!

On my second solo I had to make an emergency landing! Talk about a death grip. The plane was later wrecked, and I found out that the flight school was going to part it out. I took the yoke out of it for my gameroom. I figured it had some luck in it.

Great Mudge! In 15 degree weather the CFI always sends the student out to do the preflight! Enjoy youself and if you can fly on a gusty day, it will be easy on a good day. Keep us posted.

I seem to have left out the part that says I'm learning in a Piper Warrior.
I even joined AOPA. How confident is that?
