Here is the story in the Dallas North American magazine about the 1st B-24 built there. It is amazing how quickly things moved in that time. 319 days from signing the contract! It would take years nowdays.
The print is kinda small, Photobucket will only allow this size...it is readable if you save and then enlarge with Windows picture viewer...

Thanks for posting this one. A very good read. The drive and determination during the War Years of WW II showed what the American People were capable of. Doing a complex aircraft from scratch like a B-24 in that length of time is quite an accomplishment. But let's not forget the VERY short time that the P-51 went from concept to drawing board to production line to front line fighter in something like 180 days (I don't recall the exact time frame). Our country was so much more capable of great things like that "back in the day" versus where, I believe, we are today.
