Reminds me of the Clay Lacy DC-7 entered in the Ca 1000 race, early 70's. I went to the next race with my dad at Brown Field the next year and the -7 was there along with a Connie. Super Snoopy and the Red Baron. Way cool but they changed the rules making mandatory pit stops eliminating any advantage they might have had. I *really* wanted to see those 2 planes making pylon turns! I did get to see the Connie back up with it reversing props and get out of it's parking spot.

You don't want those Big Boys up there all alone do you? How about a fighter on each wingtip! Might be a liittle trouble with prop wash, but that's how you seperate the men from the boys, maybe even the fiilings from the teeth or the wings from the fuselages. Hell of an idea. Should be real easy to get insurance for it, too.

It has been done all ready. Jim Orten was looking for a ride for Reno, when he could not find one, he took Sentimental Journey around the pylons and won the 1st B-17 class ( and Liars contest) at Reno. There is a trophy of this in the CAF hangar in Mesa

the top of the fuselage for a couple trips around the pylons. They
