Excellent, Jack! Wonderful view of that famous photo.
I met "Col. Don" in 2001 at a 4th FG Reunion - it was, and remains, surreal that he was interested in my Don Gentile painting One-Man Air Force. I explained "my take" on the scene depicted to him as we stood before the original I had brought to the reunion, and he listened intently. I can only imagine the memories that were flooding through his mind.
I don't have my ES refs in front of me now, so I don't know about a "Chesley Robertson", but that guy ain't Peterson - "Col. Pete's" face was totally different, though he was tall with light colored hair per the man in the photo, so I can see how a photo caption or two in a book here or there could get it wrong - but again, that guy ain't Col. Pete.
