The biggest aviation story of this year

Wed Mar 07, 2007 12:20 am

And now for something completely different.

I'm really hoping this story goes away, because I'd rather see the public's attention focused on something more positve in the aerospace realm. And I truly feel sorry for Lisa Nowak- it's bad enough you get jilted, but to have it an international news story? Could there ever be adequate consolation for that....

Now some questions- is there anybody than doesn't know this laundry list?

BB gun, new steel mallet, a knife and rubber tubing

And this was the best quote I heard today, from the
"other woman":

"Because you know how these things go," Shipman told detectives. "I said, `Is there gonna be some crazy lady showing up at my door, trying to kill me?' He said, `No ... she's not like that. She's fine with it. She's happy for me.'"

This is in the wrong forum, here's a link where it should be:

Seems to be quite a bit of non warbird related stuff being posted on the 'Warbird Information Xchange' forum of late for some reason, detracts from the site, and the reason why there is an OFF TOPIC subforum

WIX checklist?

Warbird related? Space shuttle- definitely.

Pertains to operation of warbirds? Definitely.

Military aircrew? Definitely.

Public interest, impacting military aviation? Definitely.

This story, while trashy in the public aspect, is going to have a VERY BIG impact on Astronaut selection and how the whole program evolves. It also involves very large dollar amounts of very public US money, which I would like to see spent properly. My major point was to generate discussion of the whole incident. There are very limited numbers of future Shuttle flights, and I would hazard a guess that they are going to apply a heavier selection criteria to air crew as a result of this. Is this in our interest or the best interest of the shuttle? Well, since this is a step in the evolution of manned flight with military application, I think it pertains here...

And I still feel sorry for Lisa Nowak. She worked hard for where she got in the program (military space flight) and despite having definite National Inquirer appeal, I wish the public took a broader view of what she did. When they publish a story about a murderer here in Baltimore at least they quote some family member claiming, "He was a good boy." I see her convicted almost automatically in the public eye. She put her life at risk in service to her country, and I think she should get more respect for that. Even Duke Cunningham got better defense here on WIX than she did.

Besides, I kinda think she's hot...

WTF? The biggest aviation story of this year (WIX) will be tossed between the Mustang Gathering and Glacier Girl crossing the pond...not some crazy jealous astronaut.

Off topic section definitely.

If I don't want to read a post I usually just skip over it instead of complaining like a spoiled child.

What JimH said. I'd say it's about even between the two.
I don't see how her being an Astronaut is going to have an impact on the program.

Mudge the voter

ps. I think the "spoiled child" remark was uncalled for. :?

Doesn't belong on a warbird forum. It belongs in the Anna Nicole/Brittany Spears/Lisa Nowak forum.

My dos centavos.

I am sure some people don't realize we have an off-topic board.

No problem here.

I wasn't complaining, just educating, and I don't want to look at her ugly white face again.

What rubbish.....the title of the thread leads you to open it and begin reading.

Re not knowing there is an off topic forum..what self respecting board doesn't? Straight out laziness not to check......and someone who had been posting for around three years certainly does!
