This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

How many wixers here have made it to the big leagues since they joined
wix??? NOT those already flying the big stuff (Sorry Bill, Vlado, Paul ect).
The first 2 I can think of are....
Jim Harley B-25
Jeff Wright B-25/T-28/YAK-11 R-2000/P-51D
There's got to be a few more.

"The big stuff---does that have something to do with the time Mike and Dick Wright got to the pilot briefing early right after the complimentary donuts had been delivered? Otherwise, I haven't really flown any monsters as PIC, but I did park next to Eric's Skyraider. It was certainly big, and had a lot of stuff hanging on it!

Is Jeff the one that flies Evergreen's B-25? USAF (possibly reserve)? I used to work for a friend/coworker of his, just curious.

Bill...the Spit parked next to the Skyraider conjures up an amusing picture.
Probably looks something akin to Mrs. Mudge's Honda Accord parked next to my Silverado.
Mudge the amused
ps...yes, Eric's Skyraider does have a lot of "stuff" hanging off it. WAAYY cool, though.

I never parked next to a Spitfire, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express during an airshow once.

Define big stuff??
I actually never asked for her name.

"Oh, they got names?"
(old airline joke, couldn't help it!)

the 25 is not Evergreen's but belongs to Jim Morgan of salem and we are just storing it at the museum until Jim can get a new hanger built. I have been flying the Evergreen P-51 when they buget for it to be flown.

Ahh, I see... thank you for the information... I just started volunteering out there, and don't quite know all of the specifics just yet.

I got the SPAD and the type rating after I joined WIX.

Unfortunately, the only "Big Stuff" I've had a chance to handle since I joined WIX is the ocassional "Big Stuff Oreo Cookie"!

new here and just wondering. how can you qualifiy as a warbird pilot? now you'll need your license first, but then? Are there schools that turns you into a warbird pilot? Or do you depend on someone elses goodwill?
