Would Like Any Information/Pictures on 1Lt Edmund D. Whalen

This is what I have:

1Lt Edmund D. Whalen
0-886143, 334th FS 4th FG
Lost on 3/6/1944 in P-51B, Serial No. 43-6899, Code QP-O

Shot down an ME-110 and was hit by debris, bailed out and was seen to have a good chute.

Buried @ Netherlands America Cemetery.

My wife is an Whalen, and Edmund was from New York State as is my wife's father.

I have pics of William Whalen aka "Gooney" a former fighter pilot of 4FG who transferred to the 355th FG in September 1944, volunteered for 2SF (supported by 355th) and became the only Scout Force ace - with 6 air, 2 ground.

Any relationship?

Spooky... We were just discussing that man on RAF Commands last week..

Need to confirm that E D (T) Whalen (RAF or RCAF) was the same man as Edmund D Whalen USAAF, 4 FG

Don't believe the two are connected. Lt Edmond D Whalen came to 4FG on 11/18/43 long after the RAF Eagles transferred to 8th AF.

Apparently PO Edmond T Whalen was RAF.

He (Edmond D) is listed as Gouveneur, NY hometown.

I think it is too much of a co-incidence

Someone E D (T) Whalen had an accident in a Spitfire at 61 OTU on 5th March 1943

He was believed to be Canadian or USAF. He would have joined up earlier... Someone in 2001 was looking for an Edmund D Whalen (American in RCAF) in 2001

I think he would have transferred to 4 FG after completing his OTU Training as you say Edmund D Whalen joined 4 FG on 18 Nov 1943.

What happened, is that ALL Americans in RAF were given ultimation, join USAAF or risk losing citizenship.. I think he did this (that is why some joined USMC or USN instead of USAAF) . I note he joined the 4 FG which had a history from Eagle Squadrons

I not sure about William Whalen, since I'm not sure where he was from. I guess he survived the war.

I'm have asked my wife cousin if he could tell me any imformation since he has their family history.

Bill Whalen died post war, was from Hamilton, NY.

Just found out that EDT Whalen who was in RAF in 1943 and hasvSpitfire Accident in Marxh 1943 was an American
