Possibly 320th BG

The caption I have on that picture says the plane belongs to the "95th Squadron, 1st TAC". IIRC, the 95th was part of the 17th BG.

Yes, that was a First Tactical Air Force Marauder from 95th Sqdn. The 1st TAF was made up from Dec 1944 on of the 17th and 320th BG's, as well as two French B-26 Groups.

The subject plane took a direct flak hit over Toulon France in August 1944. I have the S/N somewhere, just have to lay hands on it.

IIRC, there were only two, maybe three survivours.

UPdated: Two survivours, Bob McCluskey & George L. Moscovis. Plane #50. Date of shootdown refined to August 20, 1944. Latest info from: http://www.b-26marauderarchive.org/PH/B26/P978.htm

Further update, the S/N is 42-96010.
Thanks to my friend JG for digging that up!

Is that the same McCluskey that was either a Senator or Rep?
