Rosie the Riveter Park

Sat Mar 24, 2007 1:45 am

The legacy of Rosie the Riveter, the millions of women who worked in American defense plants during World War II, will be honored Saturday when Douglas Park, at the corner of Clark Avenue and Conant Street, is renamed Rosie the Riveter Park. The dedication ceremony starts at 2 pm, and includes swing music from the 1940's and free refreshments. Event organizers expect women who worked for the Douglas Aircraft Company in Long Beach to attend the ceremony. This is the first park in the United States to honor women who worked in the aerospace industry.
