80's Air Show pics

Sat Mar 24, 2007 10:51 am

Over the next several weeks, I will be scanning photos from Wings Over Houston 1985, 1987, 1988; CAF AirSho Harlingen 1987, 1988, Planes of Fame Air Diosplay 1989, 1991.

If there is any interest I can post some of them. I have shots of B-26 Carolyn, CAF A-20 and Twin Mustang. Other aircraft in their ealier colors.

We all love the stuff you've been posting. The only thing I would request is bigger scans!

Indeed. Any of "Carolyn" and the Havoc would of course get special attention from me....but post what you wish! :)

Bill, do you have any pics of my old T-6G, N3166G,"Snoopy"? It was dark blue fuselange, yellow wings, striped rudder, red ring on the cowling, Snoopy with a scarf nose art.

Thanks,

Here are two pics from CAF Air Show Scholes Field 1971 when it was blue and white before it was Snoopy. One pic from CAF Air Show Scholes Field 1972 as Snoopy. Hope you enjoy them.

Thanks Bill! That airplane was destroyed in a hangar fire in Conroe in 94. I've seen your pictures of my other plane, O-2A, N5539G, 68-11055, on the Skymaster UK site.

I have 2 photos of it at Breckinridge 1990 before Viet Cong Hunting Club and 4 at Lone Star Galveston 1997 as Viet Cong Hunting Club.

Would you by any chance have a photo of the A-26 next to Snoopy? I believe that is the old CAF Invader N6101C.

Yes ii is the CAF Douglas A-26B Invader 44-34624, N6061C. I have three photos from the 1971 show in Galveston and 1 from the 1972 show. They are not very good quality. My camera was good but lens soso. They were taken from a distance away. The Two color photos were scanned from slides that have changed in color and two were black and white.

They are still a treat to see. Sometimes rarity equals quality! Does any of our Waco based forumites know if the remains of the A-26 still linger on at the ranch of a Ranger Wing member? Bettre yet, any chance of a photo of the wreck?
