You sure that's an A model Jack? Nose is longer, waist windows look like a D model.

I thought you guys said the B-24A wasn't used in combat by the U.S.. Does this photo prove otherwise? Also I had heard that the Lockheed Hudson was used as the C-60 transport or as the B-34 and relegated to stateside training by the U.S. Is that a bomber version in the photo?
Last, since the B-24A and other aircraft appear to have a desert tan paint scheme, could the Diamond Lil paint scheme have been an authentic option for the CAF's now much improved Liberator?

I have to agree with Dan...looks more like an early "D" sans top turret. Can't really tell if it's got the later oval cowls, but it's got the longer nose, and the waist hatches are lower and further aft than an "A." It also doesn't have the subtle "kink" in the fuselage at the leading edge of the horizontal stab (I think the roofline was raised slightly after the "A" model.)
Neat pic, though..you can never have too many B-24 pictures!

You guys must have super exray vision cause I can't see any hatches just some windows and no turrets. Could this be a A with some upgrades or damage repair using later components? The caption says B-24A but of cause that really much but the A's were so few especially US overseas I can't imagine the guy captioning it has such unless he knew what he was shooting

Well, Jack...I'm afraid that the B-24 shown does not look like an "A" model to me. It looks more like a "D" model. However, I'm no expert on them by any stretch of the imagination.
Either way, it's a very cool shot and I know everyone here appreciates you posting it.

Looking at the tiff file I can see the hatch but it's just to dark to make out other details. Well.......poop!
