PICS! L-9 Restoration at the CAF Keystone Wing

Sat Mar 31, 2007 7:02 pm

I was out in Pittsburgh at the Keystone Wing’s hangar at AGC a couple of months ago. Orin was nice enough to take the time one cold Saturday morning and show me the progress. I was meaning to post them here sooner but forgot. Sorry Orin!

Not much gets done in the winter months since the hangar is not heated, but with spring just around the corner its first flight should be this year.

EDIT: Visit the Keystone Wing's website here.

The Keystone Wing started out with this:

Here’s a picture of a picture of what it will look like when it’s done (Civil Air Patrol colors):

That is some of my sheet meatl work around the engine that I did on my first weekend there with another volunteer. It is an honor to work with all of of the fine men and women of this Wing.

Is that the O-235 STC engine installation?

The L-9 here at the Misssissippi Wing still has the Franklin, and we have been thinking about and engine change in the near future.

If you do make the switch make sure that you have a manual for it with the new engine. It took our wing somwtime to do so.
