Shouldn't this thread be about Tom Blair's P-38? I know that they are all fork tailed devils but the ex-Bill Ross airplane will always be "Der Gabelschwanz Teufel" to me. Seems like P-38's are making a small, and welcomed, come-back.

Wrong plane Martin.
Shouldn't this thread be about Tom Blair's P-38?

No, Jack Croul's. Putt-Putt's a different a/c

Yes, I know this is a different aircraft, but when I saw your thread title I immediately thought it was about Blair's P-38. As I said, I have come to associate "Der Gabelschwanz Teufel" with the ex-Bill Ross airplane. (as does Martin apparerently!) Hopefully a thread about Blair's aircraft taking to the skies is in the not to distant future. Thanks for the pictures by the way, can't wait for Chino!

Oh that guy. He's just counts P-51s when he's trying to go to sleep
I've always considered the name has a German reference to P-38s in general. I like the way it sounds 8) 8)

Was this the P-38 that was auctioned (unsuccessfully) at the Santa Monica Museum of Flying Auction in the early 90's and subsequently sold after that? Or is this another bird?
