Tue Apr 10, 2007 10:26 pm

i belong to the society of aviation historians, cleveland ohio chapter. at tonight's meeting the chapter president related that a new zealander he's been emailing wants to start an air racing historians chapter in that country which i think is cool. anyway, the chapter prez said this kiwi knows of multiple corsair crash sites, with probably enough stuff to assemble at least 2 corsairs. he' yet to provide details or pics, anybody know any gossip on the possibility???

While in New Zealand this past November we visited Ardmore Airfield and tucked away in a hangar was an FG-1D project that was rescued from a scrap yard. Along with the complete airframe was a parts cache that looked like "wal mart". You name it and there were multiples of everything. I posted pics on webshots.
