Nice to see a british warbird winning awards. Always loved watching RN201 fly at Duxford especially with the Spit XVI that was in the same markings for a while.

Its quite an old restoration (although new to the USA). Were there no new restorations there this year?

No new restorations. Not a whole lot there actually. It seemed to all disappear towards the end of the week. By Sunday it was pretty much all gone.

Is authentic paint not considered when judging at Sun-N-Fun? I love the Spit so no disrespect intended, just wondering what the criteria is.

This paint scheme was originally carried on a 41 Sqd MK 21 Spitfire ,in 1946,7 I believe. I am sure someone else will no more.

Yes, authentic for a Spit, but not for a Mk.XIV.

I believe the scheme for this particular aircraft was chosen with the American market in mind. Looks like they got that right!
