I completed my updates to the Nevada Locator. You can find it here…

As usual there are a number of blanks that need to be filled. If you are a Nevada resident or visitor please take a look at the list and let me know if there is something you can add. You should also check the list available via the link above and let me know if there is something completely missing.

GE was lying about the location of the street address. You are correct it was easy to find on the west side.

Is it possible the H-54 and UH-1 are hulks? Is there interesting stuff like that stored outside at the Reno Stead Airport?

#11 there used to be a C-124 on the northwest side of McCarran until circa 1997, but it's gone now.

The Air Guard Base at Stead has a Huey on a pylon I believe and used to have a bunch of partially stripped CH-54s lying around -- don't know if they're still there or not. Don't think the Guard base is open to the public. There have at various times been Migs through -21, an IL-14, T-33s, an Iskra (sp?),Caribou and C-123s down at the East end, along with a fire base with C-54s and Neptunes and such at times. All this is constantly changing, and not generally on display as such...

The UH-1 and CH-54 are at the southwest corner of the Army NG facility on the west side of the airport, at 39.40.27.58N 119.53.38.14W, and 39.40.27.65N 119.53.36.64W, respectively. Also seen are CH-47s on the ramp to the east of the facility. This is, however, and old GE image, so they might be gone.

Where is McCarran? Is that a Las Vegas suburb?

#10: There may be a Military Heritage Command Museum in Las Vegas. Can you confirm? If so where exactly is it? Are any aircraft in the collection?

#12: Are there any aircraft in the collection of the Atomic Testing Museum in Las Vegas?

#13: There may be a T-33 displayed in Las Vegas at a Votech Center. If so where exactly is it?

#14: There may be a Nevada Air Museum in Reno. If so where exactly is the museum?

#15: There may be a Nevada Aviation Historical Society in Reno. If so where exactly is the museum?

#16: There may be a Winnemucca War Memorial in Reno. If so where exactly is the museum? Are there any aircraft in the collection?

#18: Apparently there is a F-16, F-111 and F-117 displayed Tonopah. If so where exactly are they?

#3 Do not believe Cactus Air Force has become a unit of the CAF (Commemorative Air Force). Cactus Air Force is indeed at Carson but which specific hangar or location...I'm not sure. This CAF refers to a collection of aircraft owned by Rick Clemens. I met him, his restoration people/mechanics and pilot when they brought the first civilian owned and flown OV-10 to BroncoFest at Meacham a couple of years ago. It's a beautiful aircraft and I bet all the others are too. Here is a link to an article about the OV-10 and mention of his other craft:

That's McCarran airport, the main commercial airfield in Las Vegas, just southeast of the Strip.

It's been 9 years since I've lived in Vegas, and I think the last time I passed this ol' girl was when I drove from Vegas to Reno in 1997 for the Air Races, but I doubt it's gone far in the years since then.

# 14 - no sign of a museum, but there is a F-4 (39.29.55.04N 119.46.41.55W) and an F-101 (39.29.55.03N 119.46.40.34W) near the 152nd Airlift Wing (AW) apron.
