B-25s Galore!

Fri Apr 27, 2007 10:16 pm

Here are some B-25 photos from my collection. They all came from the same person so I am assuming they are from the same base and unit. Can anyone confirm what unit?? Enjoy!

Great photos...Thanks for sharing. Lack of the "Hose Nose" radome and the nose art CONFIRMS they are NOT Marine Bombing Squadron PBJs!

Ahhhh... so you're the fella who wound up with these...

These are Mitchells from the 321st BG... probably all from the 447th BS, as the unit markings shown in a couple photos are that of the 447th and the named birds appear on THIS webpage from THIS 321st BG website.

Unit markings for squadrons of the 321st were roman numerals carried on the tail:

445th BS - 'I'
446th BS - 'II'
447th BS - 'III'
448th BS - 'IV'

Red fin tips were a group marking, although some photos I've seen appear to show different colors. This could be due to different paints and/or weathering, though.

The 'white' outline from the missing gun packs on 'Ruptured Duck' is probably actually natural metal, or maybe an underlying primer color.

Thanks for posting these!

Yeah I found this lot on ebay and loved it! Thanks for the info on the unit! Any particular reason why they would have removed the side guns off of the aircraft?
