Warbird Collection

Sat Apr 28, 2007 4:44 pm

Hey guys I'm trying to dream up an evocative name and logo for my warbird collection based here 'Down Under"..

my aircraft:

Douglas B-26C "Hollywood Hangover"
Spitfire XIV [under active rebuild]
Cessna 0-1G "Little Puff"
Cessna 0-2A "War Horse"
Grumman TBM-3E "Georgia Peach"

Hmmmm.... you said " Down Under"? For some reason, the word "Thunder" is coming to mind?!?! :D :D :D

Just kidding! :D

That's a tough one. I suppose I'd need to know why you have the planes that you do and what they mean to you. What each plane represents, and what the entire collection represents to you.

I like the idea of just "The (your name here) Flying Collection" or something in that vintage kind of flying circus/barnstormers kind of era feeling. Or maybe the (your name here) Flyers.

Best of luck. I wish I could have a collection like that. WOW.

Cheers,

David

The biggest issue is how do I keep my bride believing that they're all "investments"????

Actually I have an interest in the history of the types as I'm ex-RAAF, my dad was RAAF [WW2] my father-in-law was B-17 combat airman [483rd BG] and am lucky to have meet several former aircrew and one special crew chief who were involved with my actual aircraft. For example there were at least three DFC's won in my Dog in Vietnam. My Spit has four combat kills and I hold the pristine uniform of a pilot of her...

To add my too cents worth, it's got to be easy to remember but also available as a domain name. You are going to have a web site for the collection at some point

Oh and its gotta look good as a should patch on the crew flying suits too ...

Maybe something like this ?

Whatever the name, I have always fancied the idea of pulling the concept of replacing the five stars on the right of the Australian flag with aircraft top side views... thank goodness you have five planes.

And for the name... what about "Brisbane Old Aeroplane Collection" or BOAC for short... that hasn't been used before

or the "OD Air Force"... OD for Oscar Duck or Olive Drab.

I'll think about it more for you... any plans for more aircraft other than ones you have listed?

i think using "air force" in the name is a good idea.

Commerative Airforce
Yankee Airforce

The Pineapple Air Force? Not original but...

Or Banana Benders Air Force but that's getting personal. :-)
