This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

Check out those pants. I'm not yet twenty one in this photo so I guess that's a Coke in my hand and not a Bud longneck. I'm thinking this was taken about 35 years ago, maybe in Iowa? There were not very many warbirds in the midwest back then so I have some vivid memories of this plane, it was always the star of the flightline. I seem to recall that Bill Ross never flew this thing without his light blue flightsuit. I've lost track of this plane, where is it now?

This isn't a P-38 shot, but Bill Ross was at Rickenbacker this year (1976) with his P-38. I am not at home to scan these photos...but I have a similar shot of me in front of Der Gable.... I remember falling in love with the Mustang this particular year. My dad, who I lost this past April made this photo for me after I flew Crazy Horse back in 94. Those were great times!

Found this in the same box with the P-38 photo. Probably taken 30+ years ago. That's me in the tail gun seat of my father's Tora Tora Tora Kate replica (N3725G). I was really mad at him when I came home one evening and discovered that he had sold this old clunker. No wonder I can't shake the warbird thing, clearly I imprinted on them as a child.
