IIRC with the B-29 that had a runaway No 3 prop, when the shaft sheared thr prop bounced into No 4 engine and then into the fuselage.

Really nice photos. Thanks for sharing. I can see why my father called the early engines on a B-29 "Wrong Engines" and "Flame Throwers." The #3 engine on his B-29 got so hot onetime during a real hot muggy day down at MacDill Field in Tampa, Florida during takeoff that it blew the exhaust stack clear off the engine and nacelle, then the darn engine caught fire. He was too far down the runway to abort the takeoff so he had to circle the pattern with three turning and one burning before making an emergency landing at MacDill. The fire bottle took care of most of the fire, but not all of it. He made a safe landing afterwards and the fire crews extinguished the rest of the fire. The plane was back in the air two weeks later with fresh engines.
