Curtiss P-47?

Mon May 14, 2007 6:15 pm

Hi all,

Question:

Are there any P-47's left that were built by Curtiss?

The Registry says there are two:

P-47 4225068 is currently under restoration for the Fighter Collection at Duxford.

I understand her fuselage is at Chino where the structure that was taken out to fit a rear seat is being replaced. One wing is with Avspecs in NZ being re-spared and the other is to follow soon. Meanwhile tail and u/c are being restored at DX.

Think you will find the wing is in Oz.

Not in NZ.

I believe the 2 Curtiss P-47s are the only razorbacks seen on the airshow curcuit in the past couple of decades. According to the registry, P-47D 42-8205 is maintained in airworthy condition, but I've never seen it fly.

Hey BDK, any updates on Little Demon's fuselage?
