This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

OK, I hope this thread will not head South right away.... we have seen threads regarding daring airshow acts, incidents, problems and so on.
I was thinking, if there have been airshow performers who are not invited back to participate, due to personal behavior, personality, risky flying and so on.

Tulio

Absolutely!
But I'm not sure that this is the right place to name names, on a public forum.

Well Tulio, considering where you and King and I live, I hope the thread won't head North, or South... J/K
On a positive note, it was really interesting flying in to Midland last year, for the big CAF show. Me, being a "little guy" flying the L-2, I was TRULY impressed by the treatment I got from the airboss, and the rest of the folks. I needed to leave early

and had to sneak out during the show around 2 pm on Saturday to get back to San Antonio before dark (ALS regs require that I not land at the field after dark, and I wanted to be back for church meeting on Sunday). It was really interesting to attend the pilot briefing with all of the show pilots, and I didn't personally observe one of them that didn't impress me to some extent.
What's cool about the whole thing, is that this year, I've gotten to do what I always dreamed of. My parents have said that I've liked planes ever since going to a show in San Marcos in 82 or 83 when I was under 2 years old, and they've taken me to numerous airshows. That's when I started wanting to be a pilot, and now I've come full circle, flying the L-2 into Midland, and the Lackland show last year, the Doolittle Raiders reunion this year, and flying the L-2 for the ALS picnic/fly-in L-Bird demonstration two weeks ago. Now I just try to remember what it was like to be that little 7 year old, and do my best to encourage those 7 year olds (and others as well) that I see at the limited events I can attend.

It does happen.
I was at Oshkosh probably 13-14 years ago when an act got asked to land during the show for violating the crowd line. It was a windy day with a direct crosswind. All of the acts were struggling with it, but one fellow (not Bob Hoover), who was doing an energy management routine in a twin got blown over the crowd, inverted, low, slow, and with both props feathered.
Not a good thing.
He rolled upright, cranked both engines, and landed immediately. He was a cancel for the remaining days of the show.

OK 1995 I was a victim of circumstances (Curly) and I have never been asked back.
I was to shoot down a certain Zero in place of another "famous Mustang pilot" 4 days in a row. What I didn't know is that the mischeveous Zero pilot had a small bone to pick with the Blue Angels.
Well, when the airboss forgot us and we were left orbiting south of the field we called to remind him of our need to land relatively soon.
He cleared us to land after the Blues had already started their ground show, which I understand is not usually done.
The Zero suggested I land first, which was different from the plan, and the way we had done it the couple of days before.
So I land and I am taxiing in when I hear the airboss frantically over the radio "ZERO smoke off" several times in a row.
The wind was coming off the lake, the Zero had stopped on the runway and revved up the engine and the huge smoke cloud blew right over the Blues ground show.
The result was funny from our perspective maybe disrespectfull but I think it was done in a playfull manner.
Anyway we were not invited back.

Mike,
Your honesty is appreciated, and respected.
Not your fault, as far as I can tell, but thank you nonetheless for relating your story.

Mike;
Amazing candor! THank you for the incite
Many times everyone even remotly close to an incident gets painted with a broad brush.
There are many performers I've worked with in the past that I would not hire again, all for different reasons, both in the air and off the field.
Blue skies,
Jerry

I was thinking animal part affiliation rather than geographical location. Some are Pompas enough they can't even get gas with belittling line guys.
