I helped ferry that B-25 from San Marcos Texas to southern Minnesota many years ago, I signed the logbook with the ferry permit. We had to land short of our South St. Paul destination due to running out of oil in the #2 engine. I serviced the oil before the flight, full. Four and a half hours(?) later we had to land in Albert Lea(?) Minnesota. I could see the bottom of the oil tank when I checked! It used to be a fire bomber flying from Dothan Alabama. They have done a beautiful job restoring it!

Is the Guardian ever going to be a flyer? That would be cool!

I doubt the Guardian will ever fly. There is a severe lack of interest in anything that does not have front line warbird appeal. Even though the Guardian is a rare aircraft, the Az Wing members seem content to let it languish. The same with the MiG-15 and H-19 helo.

It's a real shame that there is so little interest in a flying Guardian. I understand that it may not be high on the CAF's list but you would think there would be at least one individual with the interest and resources to make it a flyer. Would the CAF turn down a reasonable offer for the bird? Has anyone ever offered to purchase it? What's the status of the Guardian that the Leewards were operating a few years back?

If I remember correctly, Ole Grey Mare is part of the collection that WIXer Matt Gunsch looks after.
