Great to see the P38s on the ramp. The Hurricane flew along with the Planes of Fame P51. Saw Bantas P51 and P40 arrive. Right as I was leaving the airport for the day another Corsair was landing.

Off to the airshow now! Weather is alittle foggy but sounds like it will clear off around noon time.

Any idea on whose 2 seat Zero???

A real 2 seat Zero? How is that possible, it is such a small plane, or is it a North American conversion to look like a Zero. You wouldn't pull my leg would you? Does it have controls in the rear and who flies it? Sorry to barage you with questions, but that really got my attention.

Here's a photo of an A6M2 displayed at the Tokyo Science Museum. Look carefully for a second sliding section toward the rear of the canopy section. I believe the two-seaters were typically modified as such in the field and used for recon.

I believe the example at Chino is the former OFMC machine (Completely ready & willing to be proven wrong though).

Just got back into Phoenix after spending most of Friday and Saturday at the show. Fantastic as usual!

The two seat Zero belongs to Paul Allen's Flying Heritage Collection and, if I recall correctly, is one of the ex-Flight Magic Zeros which were primarily restored in Russia before Allen purchased it and hired PoF to do the two-seat conversion. Of course, I could be getting my Zeros mixed up. There do seem to be more of them around these days!

Isn't it terrible. We have so many Zeros around nowadays that it's getting hard to keep track of them. Just think where we were 10-15 years ago, all of maybe two (POF & CAF) to worry about. I hope we have an even harder time in the future.

Looks like the ?s got answered. Yes... come to Chino and have to dig up all the details about what is under rebuild and take photos to keep track of all the types! Rough environment here in Chino!

if you want to get REALLY technical, the Chino Zero is the only real one as it's the only one flying with the Sakae radial and Japanese prop. the rest have been Americanized
