Glacier Girl mods for transatlantic trip

Mon May 21, 2007 12:24 am

In order to prepare 'Glacier Girl' for her trip to England next month, the guys at the Chino 'Skunk Works' have come up with a series of mods to increase safety on the transatlantic flight.

They've added another engine and more fuel, plus a third boom, creating the unique TWIN LIGHTNING

Seen for the first time in public at Chino yesterday

I dunno Mike, you clearly have to improve your Photoshop skills. That is clearly a fake IMHO!

the pic looks almost convincing!!! seriously, is she going to be flown overseas?? with her historic value, i would think her insurance underwriter would demand her being sent by ship!!

BDK...NOT a fake. This was taken just before they joined at the wing root...IN FLIGHT. You must have been too busy with the VIP's to have seen it.
I have the picture of the fuzition. (yes...that's a word) It was actually not a pretty sight so I won't post it.

Tom...yes GG's going to be flown to the UK to appear at Duxford on July 7-8.
(I have that direct from the guy who's gonna' fly it.)
There's also a rumor that Mr. Croul's P-38 may fly along with GG.
There's another rumor that Red Bull MAY repeat MAY be finished in time to be at Duxford also.
And yet another rumor that there could be a fourth P-38 there although I have no idea who's that might be.
FOUR P-38s!!!
I'll have to remember to take some Depends

Last I had heard she had been reassigned to NAS Corpus Christi, TX in a "Non-Supervisory" position.

I didn't "triple click" on purpose. I tried to "submit" and kept getting a strange response that said the site was unavailable.
As far as NASA (whatever that is) goes, reports on this woman's psychotic behavior is not the first thing I look for in the morning.

The comment about "Depends" was a (I guess too subtle) reference to my being so excited about seeing 4 P-38s that there was the possibility that I could lose what little bladder control I have at my age. (I HATE it when I have to 'splain 'em.)

Mudge the FOURTH one could turn out to belong to Tom Blair.

It's been rumoured since late 2006 that he may bring it over at some point

And early July 2007 would seem to be a good time :D
