B-24 shot down June 20, 1944

Sun May 27, 2007 6:09 pm

Hello, can any one help me find a list of B-24s that were shot down June 20, 1944. More specifically the plane should be from the 712th Bomb Squadron, 448th Bomb Group, 8th AF. It would have been shot down over Politz, Poland.
I just got a new class A visor cap with the name J.H. Copeland written inside along with his ASN, 35544943. I found out with the help of the NARA site that he was shot down, etc., etc. I can't find a list of the planes lost though. I'd like to find out what plane he was in along with a picture or two if it were posssible. T

hanks for any help you could give me. Kyle

You should check out www.armyairforces.com You can search the accident reports by date or unit. I did a quick search and found only one aircraft in that BG and BS that was shot down that day. It was aircraft # 42-51079. I have checked that number with the B-24 Nose Art directory by Wallace Forman, but could not find that serial number associated with any listed nose art.
