B-17E "Desert Rat" Update

Mon Jun 25, 2007 8:21 am

I've added a mini-site to my Aero Vintage website dedicated to the restoration of the B-17E/XC-108A s/n 41-2595. I just added another update to show the nose of the B-17 being reattached.

Check it out at:

Awsome news guys. Great work.

Engines?

Mon Jun 25, 2007 10:58 am

We do have engines, but they are the wrong series.

We currently do not have any R-1820-65 or R-1820-97
engines. ( -65 are historically accurate, -97 are more
available)

Of course, in 20 years, we may be looking for flux capacitors
and Mr. Fusion machines to power the plane.

Very cool! Can't wait to see it on our reliability run on July 29!

Great stuff! Truly a labor of love. The quality of the restoration work being performed is very evident in the photos. You guys are to be commended, big time!

Funny you should mention that. I was at a car show this past Saturday evening, and there were two DeLoreans on display  . One was bone-stock, and the other was a pretty convincing replica of the time machine from Back to the Future... complete with a "working" flux capacitor! I wish I'd had a camera with me... :x

Cheers!
